No interest in chopped-off legs!

The media, usually all over any news that promise gory details, has so far shown no marked interest in the story of the Pakistani who chopped off his sister's legs for marrying the man of her choice. Go here for my comment on Monday.

Now imagine them orgasming all over the place had anything like that taken place in the US of A, among those warmongering Bush-idolizers! Where is all the clever analysis about a "violent and cold-hearted culture" now?

Antisemitic Cartoon of the Day

Rainer Hachfeld of the post-Communist Neues Deutschland draws a heavily "Jewified" Sharon, kippah and all, receiving a cornucopia of gifts from Schröder and Fischer.

I have commented on the German subs for Israel here already.

The Creeping 'Woody Allenization' of Males

I found an interesting article from last November, but topical nevertheless. Its implications are far beyond just the military and are not confined to America, or at least so I think. To me, there is more to it because "soldierly" values transcend a society and America is usually the vanguard of the West -- be it for good or for bad.

Without a functioning male, the nucleus of our society and culture, the family, has lost its meaning and we our armour. We have nobody to fight and nothing to fight for anymore. In a society where it is not just considered "rational", but has become well nigh trendy to be a confessing "coward", where the existence of shooting ranges (for sport purposes) has become the object of derision and fear, where people like to think that shooting wildlife is cruel (of course, if it weren't for those nasty guns, wildlife would be put on a drip and nursed to death by their fellow critters) manly and soldierly values have become not just obsolete, but anti-social.

I think the widespread societal demand for emasculated males should be seen in the same context as the obedience towards... no, the ANTICIPATING obedience towards other cultures and specifically Islam.

And all that for the sake of some "fashionable" trends. Or maybe it's REALLY time for us, the West, the Whites, whatever, to withdraw and descend down to the bilges of history.
To Win A War, You Must Be Willing To Look 'Bad'
by Rabbi Aryeh Spero
Posted Nov 29, 2005

Listening to the media, the talking heads, and many in Congress, one gets the sense that the most important element in our war against jihadist terrorism is not victory but who can show that he cares more than the other guy about the comfort and “rights” of terrorist detainees. In other words, who can boast that he is more “ethical” than the rest of us.

This is no way to win a war.

Instead of determining what best can achieve immediate victory, our preoccupation has been more about feeding detainees the Islamic food of their choice; safeguarding the Koran more than our own Bible; trying them not in military courts where they should be tried but in civil courts so they can have the best lawyers and chance at acquittal; providing them with all the Constitutional rights reserved for those born here who wish not to destroy our Constitution; and instituting anti-torture standards whose definition judges can expand so that effective interrogation will be impossible.

Better for a million Americans to be incinerated, avant garde thinking goes, than use on known terrorists procedures that might elicit dates, time and place of imminent bombings of U.S. cities and citizens.

It is not that the country has gone moral, it has gone crazy.

It reminds me of the administration of Mayor David Dinkins in New York City between 1988-1992, where the purpose of government city services was not to supply the service but push affirmative action at all costs and various “feel good” social engineering schemes. For many in today’s chattering classes, the army is not allowed to be used for its purpose of winning wars but for demonstrating our “compassion.”

Worse, more effort is spent dangerously telling our troops what they cannot do than empowering them to do what they must to save their comrades and defeat the enemy. No doubt our young field soldier is at risk when in the back of his mind is a picture of a liberal lawyer eager to throw him into jail if he acts like a soldier instead of a nurse. The ACLUnik attorney who puts him in this danger couldn’t care less, since his sons, relatives, and bourgeois friends rarely serve in the military.

If we loose this war and our lives, it will be because people cared more about “not looking bad” than our own survival. But morality dictates that you save the lives of your family and fellow citizens before agonizing over the sensitivities of those coming to saw your head off your body. We may loose precisely because liberalism forced us to adopt a demented view of morality, one that is classically immoral.

No question, we are witnessing how perverted values engender perverted definitions and decisions. Current liberalism has destroyed our moral compass and replaced it with its own foolish and destructive value system.

How did this happen? When a nation becomes tentative about its own identity, it adopts a new “morality” to furnish identity. Such is the reality when people throw off age-old moral surety and replace it with “ersatz” morality.

Only men who have lost their masculinity care more about how others will perceive them over what it takes to achieve a crushing victory. My grandfather and his friends, who lived way before the ubiquitous effeminate male, lived their lives based on more than how other people saw them.

“What will the other countries and people think of us” is the refrain we so often hear from the Woody Allenized male members of Congress. Those who don’t have the stomach to do what military victory demands find their cover and justification for weakness in “morality.” Sending another 100,000 troops means nothing if they are not deployed to do what armies are trained to do -- demolish the enemy.

Truth be told, there are many in Congress who feel guilty having to support war, military means. They want, therefore, to be able to “stand above it” by saying they approve of no aspect that can be criticized. They don’t want to be soiled by it.

My grandmother had a Yiddish phrase that described moral midgets such as these who never took a position that could make them look “bad.” They were sarcastically referred to as finer mentshen, too good to get their hands dirty. She also would have been appalled by our post-60s masculinized women whose leftist ideology results more in rage at their own country than gratitude to it for protecting hearth and home.

While our President has the correct convictions, often his tenacity atrophies. I sometimes wonder if too much focus is placed upon not harming the “innocents” among the Religion of Peace as opposed to more pressing battle imperatives. We could have been victorious in this war a while back if not for this new “Compassionate War” theology, plaguing even the President.

If the United States is unwilling to fight a war with every ounce of its power, it should not go to war, for then it is not the United States at war but some reduced power at war. Yes, the rules of war must be different than those that govern everyday civic life. Even the Bible says so.

Instead, we are allowing the ACLU and other leftists to run our wars. We are permitting newly-hatched domestic “humanitarian” organizations -- comprised of a director, staff of three, a fax, and a Soros-type sugar daddy -- to downsize the effectiveness and capability of the U.S. military.

Those liberal members of Congress who have become finer mentshen, caring more about how refined and politically correct they appear, are not made of the pluck to lead. We should therefore not follow. Those who exploit this bogus “morality” as a means for America to loose a war in order to topple a President so they can regain power are treasonous. Those who think that the terrorists will go easy on us if we simply announce our proscription against torture are showing that in their mind our safety depends on the goodwill of the enemy. If so, we might as well already raise the white flag.

As for the ACLUniks, the Kuntsler-type lawyers, and the perverted lefties who always prefer our enemies over us -- how about reinstating a special draft just for them so that for once in their life they could serve their country instead of diminishing it.
Amen to that Rabbi!

Geography for Dhimmis

You have no idea what that is? I'll tell you!

Sad to say, I don't ever watch television and listen hardly ever to the wireless, save in the car. Tonight at 18:00, when I came home from exercising the dogs, I listened to WDR2 and its hourly news. Well, fact is, the EU signed a last-minute agreement with its partners from the Mediterranean rim on a mutual code of conduct to fight terrorism. A compromise was found to leave out both, one side's insistence that self-determination could not be used to justify terrorism, and the other side's demand to distinguish between terrorism and the right to resist foreign occupation.

So far so bad. But what really made it worth listening was the doctoring the WDR-editors had done even to such an uneventful snippet of news. It was always the EU versus the "southern abutting states of the Mediterranean", "die südlichen Anrainerstaaten des Mittelmeers". Several times those "südliche Anrainerstaaten des Mittelmeers" were quoted. Not even once was a term like "Arab" or -- horribile dictu -- Muslim mentioned. Everything to be a good little cultural relativist Dhimmi!

By the way, has anybody seen any Tibetan monks lately performing terrorist acts to "resist" Chinese occupation of almost 55 years? Or any German Lefties clad in yellow rags or goatskin apparel rallying for the rights of the oppressed Tibetan people?

The Spirit of Entebbe

Today, Spirit of Entebbe posts an interesting finding, namely one of those masturbatory, inane, hypocritical German projects, which are supposedly undertaken for the sake of improving "the Jewish-German relationship" when its only real purpose is to make the Germans feel good and noble.
Living in Denial.
While in Jerusalem, a member of the "Young Socialists", the youth organization of the German government party SPD, proudly handed me a flyer advertising the "Willy Brandt Center Jerusalem" whose self-proclaimed goal it is to "provide young Israelis and Palestinians with nonviolent and effective communication strategies." The center "orientates itself according to the ideas of the civic peace service in combination with social democratic values." On its cover, the flyer shows the symbols of all the parties and groups the center co-operates with: Young Socialists, Meretz, Awoda and Young Fatah.

If we take a closer look, we can see that only the symbol of one organization is not fully visible:

For the service of our readers, we are below publishing the complete symbol of Fatah, proudly showing two AK-47 assault rifles, a hand grenade and the shape of all of Palestine, including Israel, conveniently painted in the color of Islam. Might it be that this does not really fit the "ideas of the civic peace service?" On inquiry, my friend the Young Socialist explained: "They just took a picture of the pinboard." Judge for yourselves.

BOOM! The German Gutmenschen have fucked it up AGAIN! Hand me down my sick-bag please!

More than twenty years ago I contemplated applying for a PhD scholarship from the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, affiliated to the Social Democratic Party. That was long before the pest of "political correctness" entered public awareness and discourse. I got the forms to fill in for the application and was so disgusted by the intrusive (and silly -- I mean there was and is no way of verifying lip-service avowals of being "good" -- "good" in the meaning of the organisation asking for such self-credentials, of course) questions about one's personality and character that I disposed the stuff to where I thought it belonged -- the dustbin.

That all this would one day be part of a greater political context and not just a personal nuisance was, at least for me, unthinkable at that time. But then, at that time The Raid on Entebbe had already happened and the fact that Germans -- again and only 31 years after the end of the Holocaust -- had "selected" Jews with the clear intention of murder, had pretty much escaped my attention. As had the fawning note by the KPD (the German Communist party) addressed at "His Excellency" Idi Amin and which ensured the "deeply felt compassion" and "unlimited solidarity" the KPD had for Idi Amin Dada.

In the meantime the PC-Thought-Police has taken over the entire country and even the unspeakablest of representatives of the people are allowed to mouth their opinion and are -- are we amazed? -- even taken seriously. Every person with one tiny little grain of honesty left should throw screaming tantrums at the sight and sound of dangerous and hypocritical bullshit like "special relationship between Germany and Israel" or "Germany's position as a neutral partner in the Middle East".

As it is, it's all pretty quiet round here.

Send social workers to Pakistan!

Man chops off sister’s legs for marrying by choice

MULTAN: A man chopped off the legs of his sister for marrying the man of her choice in Naseerabad in Bahawalpur on Friday, a police official said. Arif Nawaz, the Bahawalpur district police officer (DPO), told Daily Times on phone on Saturday that Naseem Bibi, 20, had secretly married Saeed Ahmed, 25, but her brother Bashir Ahmed, who was against the love marriage, registered a kidnapping case against her husband. Naseem refuted her brother’s allegations before Additional Superintendent of Police Chaudhry Muhammad Salim and told him that she was Saeed Ahmad’s lawful wife. The police discharged the case. On Friday, Bashir Ahmed, with the abetment of local councillor Faiz Rasool, allegedly cut his sister’s legs with a chopper when she was working in fields. The attackers also beat her husband and his brother Abdul Hameed severely. Naseem was taken to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur where her condition was serious, the DPO said. “The police have registered a case against the accused nominated by Saeed Ahmed,” he said. staff report
Ah well, we must try to understand... It's part of his culture, after all. Every religion has its good and its bad sides and who are we to judge! In lower Bavaria, they treat women exactly as badly! Besides, Islam is a religion of peace, really. It's a cry of help, you know. The guy wasn't really able to express the love for is sister in a more appropriate way. Never forget that Islam is a religion of peace!

Nod and thanks to Itbak al Filasteen.

Germany drowning in snow!

dpa

(Thanks to Cameron (Cam) Cardow, Canada for the cartoon!)

Edited to add: Oh yes, and STILL waiting for "serves them right" from the American media, something we see here every day the US of A are haunted by some natural disaster.

Lest We Forget!

Tonight, I listened to the radio in the car and thus came, by pure chance, across a brief feature commemorating the 60th anniversary of the founding of CARE today. CARE helped many Germans survive or out of bitter starvation, American families paid for it. Of course, the little feature had to mention that the CARE parcels were originally meant as supply for the American troops in the Pacific, but not needed anymore because the Americans had "destroyed" Hiroshima and Nagasaki and thus shortened the war. German media never miss an opportunity for an anti-American sly little dig. (For my German readers: The station was WDR2!)

Germans will never forgive America for liberating them from the Nazis and even less that they, the Americans, were gracious in victory.

It is a sad quirk of human nature that it, more often than not, bears grudges against those it owes instead of being grateful.

However, THANK YOU AMERICA!

Wash your mouth with soap, Beeb!

Or still better: sulphuric acid!

I think this ist just perfectly placed in the Beeb's "Entertainment" section:
Arafat report 'broke BBC rules'

The BBC governors have upheld part of a complaint against a journalist who said she "started to cry" as a dying Yasser Arafat left the West Bank in 2004.
Her comments "breached the requirements of due impartiality", they ruled.

Barbara Plett was initially cleared by the head of editorial complaints over the From Our Own Correspondent report on Radio 4 but a listener appealed.

The ruling related to her description of a scene when the Palestinian leader was flown out of his compound.

"When the helicopter carrying the frail old man rose from his ruined compound, I started to cry," she said in the 30 October 2004 broadcast.

Yasser Arafat died on 11 November 2004 at a French military hospital in Paris.

'Tearful eulogy'

Ms Plett's piece led to hundreds of complaints from listeners.

The BBC Governors' Programme Complaints Committee upheld part of the appeal.

The committee rejected the assertion by the person who appealed that the report was a "tearful eulogy" and a "flagrant violation" of editorial guidelines.

It said Ms Plett's report was balanced by references to Mr Arafat's "obvious failings".

But the governors concluded that the reference to crying did breach the guidelines on due impartiality.

The BBC's director of news, Helen Boaden has apologised for what she described as an "editorial misjudgement".

She said it appeared Plett "unintentionally gave the impression of over-identifying with Yasser Arafat and his cause".

The governors said they approved of the "rapid and comprehensive way" in which Ms Boaden had apologised to those who were offended.
For the Beeb to use the term "requirements of due impartiality", it needs so much scummy hypocrisy and chutzpah that only a good rinse with soap and water will help.

Besides, why did they send a PMSing dumb broad to cover that absurd event anyway? The paedophile old queen was (AT LAST!) well and truly on his final trip, so a male reporter might have gotten away unmolested.

Israel returns bodies of Hezbollah fighters
But guerrilla leader says group will continue to try to kidnap Israeli soldiers
Saturday, November 26, 2005
By ZEINA KARAM of The Associated Press

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Israel returned to Lebanon on Friday the corpses of three Hezbollah guerrillas killed this week in fierce fighting in a disputed border area - an unusually quick return intended to restore calm. Hezbollah's leader told supporters the group would nonetheless continue to try to kidnap Israeli soldiers.

"It is our natural right to capture Israel soldiers," Sheik Hassan Nasrallah told a rally in the Hezbollah stronghold of south Beirut. "Indeed, it is our duty to do that."

Hezbollah's show of force - attacks on the Lebanese-Israeli border and Friday's mass rally - aimed to affirm the group's significance as a main player in Lebanese politics and as a key to stability with Israel.

Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Saniora had demanded Wednesday that Israel return the bodies, saying it was necessary to restore calm after the heaviest clashes in years on Monday.

Israel handed the bodies to the International Red Cross, which drove them through the Naqoura crossing on the Lebanese-Israeli border on Friday.

Israel has previously kept the bodies of Hezbollah fighters for long periods - sometimes years at a time - eventually returning them in negotiated swaps for the remains of Israeli soldiers or prisoners. Its quick delivery this week indicates a desire to defuse tension on the border and to deny Hezbollah a pretext to launch further attacks.

Further, Israel knows that an escalation in border fighting would turn Lebanon's attention away from the country's main preoccupation - the U.N. investigation into the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and relations with Syria. The investigation has implicated top officials in Syria.

Sheik Nasrallah was on hand to welcome the guerrillas' coffins when they arrived in Lebanese ambulances at a complex south of Beirut. Families of the guerrillas were among several hundred mourners.

"We are used to martyrdom. I have five more (sons) and I am ready to offer them," Ibrahim Mousawi, the father of slain guerrilla Mohammed Mousawi, told Hezbollah's Al-Manar television.
Yes, you are reading this right. An American newspaper printed that. Uncommented, obviously approving! But that is not the point here.

My point is that Israel is governed by a bunch of criminal idiots. (And no, my "anti-Zionist" friends, no ovations necessary!) Here is what any sane statesman should do when faced with an insane threat: According to the Moskovski Komsomol newspaper, Russian security forces decided to bury the terrorists from October 2002's hostage siege wrapped in pigskin.

There is an, as far as I know apocryphal, story of "Black Jack" Pershing doing just that in the Phillipines in the early 20th century. But even if it's not true, it's nicely thought out.

However, when will those bleeding heart do-gooder idiots who are governing Israel FINALLY come to see that their past and current action won't take them anywhere. How many brave IDF soldiers have to die unnecessarily and how many defenceless women and children at pizza- and icecream parlours will have to be blown into bloody pulps until those criminal idiots will take measures to protect them? Do they think the Pals will actually thank them for their "fairness"?

I have forgotten who the British politician was who said during the Mandate that the only language an Arab understands would be a fixed bayonet at the business end of a gun. Or words to that effect.

Never forget: pigskin is cheaper than bayonets.

Everything to make the scum feel better!

Yesterday, a court in Hamburg sentenced the parents of the 7-year old Jessica to life in prison. They had kept their daughter in an unheated and darkened room, which stank of faeces and urine, in a high-rise public-housing block and starved her slowly to death. Jessica was reduced to crawling, because, as a result of her condition, her bones had become like glass and couldn't carry her weight anymore, however little that was. She suffered excruciating pains from nephritis and coproliths. Jessica died on March 1, 2005, fully conscious until the end.

The court convicted her mother (36) and father (50) of murder and gross neglect of a child. The court heard that the couple had regarded Jessica's existence as a nuisance.

Neither relatives, neighbours nor local school or other authorities were aware of her ordeal, nor did they obviously want to be. The parents got an official warning and a note for a fine from the school authorities because they didn't send the child to school, which they didn't honour, and that was that.

Witnesses, among them relatives, told the court that they were amazed when the mother gave birth to Jessica, as the woman had been incapable of looking after her earlier children as well. However, they didn't care what became of the child either, of whose existence they were aware but whom they never saw.

Recently, cases like this seem to be on the rise in Germany, or maybe the media just seems to take an (no doubt fleeting) interest in an already long existing horror phenomenon.

Now I just came across an article in the online edition of DER STERN, if anything an even more spiteful battle rag for the politically correct Left than DER SPIEGEL. (You may remember DER STERN from its "Hitler Diaries" blunder, which cost it what little credibility it may have had.) The article is headed "(K)eine Frage des Geldes", "A Question of Money -- Not".
Jessica, Michelle, Brian and Bianca: The fate of starved-to-death and neglected children are touching and seem to be "just" a problem of the underprivileged. But children of middlecass families, too, suffer because of their overtaxed parents.

[...]

Cases like Jessica, emaciated to the bones and choked on her vomit, or Michelle who died from an untreated brain oedema, are extreme, but luckily extremely rare as well. But neglected children, the Kinderschutzbund (German child-protection organisation) estimates their number around 100,000 nationwide, are not just to be found in socially disadvantaged milieu. Offspring from seemingly snug middle class families are not immune as well.

There, however, neglect comes in many shapes... Not that those children are sent to school hungry or have to wear their summer clothes all winter... The problems are placed in the psychological field, on an emotional level.

A textbook case: Career families. Mother and father are both working and like it, they have always time for their careers, little for the children. Should the career-addicted parents be troubled by their conscience, they either smother it with an abundance of presents and toys - if they are not troubled by their conscience they do even less. Both cases leave children without emotional "anchorage", children who are without values and rules to be left to their own resources.
I'll grant the hack from DER STERN that he is only INADVERTENTLY cynical. I come from a secure, upper middle class background and I have a hunch that the hack, too, didn't spend the first 7 years of his life crawling in an unheated and darkened room, slowly starving to death stinking of faeces and urine.

Just HOW jaundiced does one have to get to compare the fate of that poorest of all poor children with that of a child "smothered with an abundance of presents and toys yet left without emotional "anchorage"". Jessica, whose coproliths were, when she died, taking up a considerable percentage of her body weight, would, no doubt, have been happy to be lumbered with problems "placed in the psychological field, on an emotional level" had thereonly been some food included.

What a gravestone epithet for the poorest of all poor little girls, and all for the sake of mollycoddling both, the guilt complex AND the jealousy of the lower middle class majority readership, who is placed, sociologically, just between the scum who breeds children like Jessica and the "career couple" whom they envy.

A spade isn't a spade anymore and scum isn't scum, just people who HAPPEN by chance to torture their children to death. And never forget: Your Porsche-driving neighbour might be just as bad and give his child expensive presents instead of a cuddle.

But at least such a child survives and maybe he even becomes a hack writer in the politically correct media just to spite his parents who gave him the wrong designer jeans for "Xmas".

Everything to make the scum feel better!

...all in the name of tolerance and multiculti

A couple of days ago, SPIEGEL ONLINE bemoaned the fate of, as they put it oh-so-delicately "Islamic extremist" with a German passport, Mohammed Haydar Zammar, who "has been locked in a dungeon in Damascus for the past four years as part of Washington's post-9/11 "extraordinary renditions" program. By placing the man with suspected ties to the Hamburg al-Qaida cell in Syrian hands, the United States is allowing Damascus to commit torture so that it doesn't have to."

Now it seems that officers from Bundeskriminalamt (federal office of criminal investigation) Verfassungsschutz (office for protection of the constitution) and Bundesnachrichtendienst (federal intelligence) interrogated Zammar in Damascus in November 2002 without the knowledge of either, foreign- and law ministry. The interrogation, so SPIEGEL ONLINE, was part of a deal between Syria and the chancellor's office.

Of course, that is all hard to swallow. But the hypocritical whining of the self-declared humanitarians from the left is even less palatable. Hans-Christian Ströbele, "Green" MP, is talking about a "dirty deal" because it might have turned the government into "accessories of the dirty part of he war against terror".

That would be the same Ströbele who, in 1991 already, justified the Iraqi rocket attacks on Israel as "logical, almost imperative, consequence of Israel's policy" yet was at the same time busy collecting money for "Weapons for Nicaragua" while Zammar was building up a terror cell in Hamburg, unhindered by any German authorities, all in the name of tolerance and multiculti.

Frankly, all that hypocrisy makes me want to throw up yesterday's breakfast and every time I watch the Islamic propaganda video of the beheading of Daniel Pearl I can't quite muster up much anger anymore about those terrorists become torture victims.

Daniel Pearl, whose beheading was filmed by his murderers and used as a propaganda tool. Daniel Pearl: Lest we forget!

"A Bit Claustrophobic"

Yesterday night, one of my favourite metaphorical fishwraps, the BBC, broadcasted on Radio 4:
Islam underpins schools' lessons
By Linda Pressly
Producer: Inside a Muslim School

BBC Radio 4 visits a privately-run Muslim school in Lancashire to see how Islam affects the curriculum and how such a school equips its students for their role in modern Britain.

Every morning at 8.45am, the sound of prayer - first in Arabic then in English - fills the only corridor connecting the classrooms of Al-Islah private school.

Nearly two hundred students, seated neatly at their tightly-packed desks, start their day by praising God.

Prayer punctuates the timetable.

Al-Islah occupies the first floor of a red-brick mosque in Blackburn. It is a girls' school that takes a handful of boys at primary level.

The impetus for setting up the school in 1995 came from parents who were concerned about the state school environment and the effect it might have on their children.

"Things like drugs, smoking, intermingling between the sexes and a low level of achievement made parents think," says the head teacher, Nizamuddin Makda.

"That's why we thought we should set up our own school where we could educate our children morally and academically. The whole ethos is Islamic."

Islamic virtues

What this means in practice is that the girls adhere to a rigorous uniform code, discipline is strict and teachers are expected to instil Islamic virtues, like self-discipline, in their charges.

There are already over 100 Muslim schools in the UK

At GCSE the girls do Arabic and Urdu rather than modern European languages and Islamic studies rather than religious education (RE).

Music is seen as un-Islamic and there are no subjects you might recognise from a state secondary school curriculum like technology, drama or sociology.

Many of the girls arrive from state primary schools.

The adjustment to Al-Islah can be hard.

"I was shocked when I came here", says Year 11 student Waheeda.

"I didn't know anyone and I'd never worn a scarf before. But I got used to it and now I'll be very sad to leave."

Academic springboard

Waheeda wants to be an optometrist or a dentist.

She also wants to do a stint working abroad - maybe in Italy.

And there is every chance Al-Islah will provide her with the academic springboard she needs.

The school's GCSE-level results are good.

In spite of its limited resources - there is no science laboratory - in 2005, 13 out of the 27 achieved the equivalent of at least five GCSEs grade A* to C.

All of the Year 11 students we spoke to envisaged going on to do A-levels at a local college or sixth form and then a degree.

In a school populated by middle-class children, none of this would be surprising.

But the students at Al-Islah are the daughters of labourers, mill-workers and taxi drivers.

They are not the kind of students whose parents have normally been to university and some families struggle to pay the annual school fees of £850.

Claustrophobic atmosphere

During their short lunch break, the Year 10 girls tear around the mosque car park screaming and playing tag.

They make the most of the fresh air because they are let out infrequently. Al-Islah has no real playground of its own and there is not enough space for all the students to go outside together.

Some of the girls are veiled and they are all forbidden from talking to passers-by.

Earlier this year the Chief Inspector of Schools in England, David Bell, criticised Muslim schools for being too narrowly focused and not equipping children to live in modern Britain.

Certainly the curriculum at Al-Islah is not as broad as that found in an average state secondary school and the school can seem a bit claustrophobic.

But over the three days we spent recording at Al-Islah, the impression we got from the students we spoke to was that they are very aware of their potential role in the world around them.

And they do not regard the Islamic values and discipline they are being taught as limiting their horizons. In fact, just the opposite.
So do I get this right? The girls do Arabic and Urdu rather than modern European languages yet would like to do a stint working abroad. The school can seem a bit claustrophobic yet the Islamic values and discipline they are being taught are not regarded as limiting the girl's horizons. No doubt, the 15 girls who were burnt to death in Mecca im March 2003 because the religious police banned their way out of the blazing building without Islamic dress found that experience horizon-broadening. And when the first similar event has happened -- and it WILL -- Al Guardian and the Beeb will stand by humming and hawing and STILL be talking about diversity, tolerance and all cultures being equal.

And now let's all hope that all Christian schools in Arabic countries find similar tolerance and multi-cultural understanding.

'Hey Pot, It's Kettle' or pecunia non olet

The leading German newsmagazine DER SPIEGEL, which only doesn't qualify as a premium fishwrap because it's glossy, is so full of anti-American bile that this nasty little bit from November 18th slipped my attention. Now "pot" is China then who do you think what other nasty party dictatorship is "kettle" in DER SPIEGEL's book?
BUSH IN CHINA
'Hey Pot, It's Kettle'
By Andreas Lorenz in Beijing

Just days before his visit to China this weekend, US President George W. Bush has called on Beijing to pursue democratic reforms and open up the country. There's just one problem: throughout Asia, Bush has a massive credibility gap when it comes to human rights and freedom.

REUTERS
South Korean protestors take part in an anti-US demonstration during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on Nov. 17, 2005. US President George Bush will continue onward to China.

[...]

However, ahead of his three-day state visit, the current US president made a point of calling on the Beijing leadership to open up the country by giving Chinese greater political and religious freedom.

"The people of China want more freedom to express themselves, to worship without state control, to print Bibles and other sacred texts without fear of punishment," said Bush in a speech in Kyoto, Japan on Wednesday. He has since moved on to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Busan, South Korea.

But the man known only as "little Bush" in China has a problem. He has very little credibility in Asia on issues such as human rights. Torture scandals in Iraq and elsewhere involving the US military, coupled with what is seen as blatant disregard by the Bush administration for the Geneva Conventions , are making it very difficult for Washington to lecture Beijing or backward countries like Myanmar.

In China, even critics of Beijing's repressive policies find Bush's thoroughly legitimate admonishment tiresome. "Bush may be right about a few things, but we want to solve our problems ourselves," one Chinese economist in Beijing told SPIEGEL.

Of course, the vast majority of Chinese weren't even aware of Bush's call for greater freedom. The government mentioned his speech in Japan in official state media, but left out the more controversial parts. One popular Beijing daily newspaper devoted an entire page to his visit to Kyoto, however, there was nothing about Bush mentioning Taiwan as a democratic and prosperous example for China.

Instead, Chinese people, who don't have access to foreign media via the Internet, had to guess that Bush had said something from the fact that China's foreign minister, Li Zhaoxing, responded the next day with Beijing's official line: "Taiwan is an inseparable part of China."

[...]
I have yet to see here a rally, I mean REAL rally like those, say, targeting America and Israel -- not pathetic gatherings of Tibet-activists or members of Falun Gong -- against China's (as DER SPIEGEL so coyly puts it) "repressive policies". All I see is that German companies had no human-rights-qualms about investing more than 8 billion Euro in China, a country former chancellor Schröder used to visit once every year since he took office.

And I really LOVE the pic of the anti-Bush rally in South Korea! Without all the "Little Bushs" in the past, there is a fair chance that all those now uninhibitedly mouthing dumb broads had been forcedly aborted long ago or were at least confined to some useful sort of work instead of rallying.

Back to the Prussian three-class system of voting!

It pays to follow the Islamist media. This little gem is from IRNA, Islamic Republic News Agency:
The European Union Wednesday called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to resume talks to resolve the nuclear dispute and to forge a better relationship between the two sides.

''We urge Iran to come back to talks on long-term arrangements on the basis of the Paris agreement,'' Douglas Alexander, the British Minister of State for Europe told the European Parliament in Strasbourg during a debate on Iran Wednesday evening.
Alexander, whose country holds the current EU Presidency, said a diplomatic solution to Iran's nuclear programme should include an agreement on long term arrangements.
[...]
Angelika Beer, German Greens MEP and chair of the EP's delegation on Iran urged the Iranian leadership to play a positive role in the international community.

''Iran is a fascinating country with a young well-educated society,'' she said.

''We should not make the mistake of cutting off contacts with the civil society and slamming the door. We need to speak of rights and peaceful solution to disputes''...
...thus spake Beer and nobody laughed.

Fascinating with a young, well-educated society indeed. Hey, why don't watch a fascinating and well-educating stoning to death video!

That would be the same Angelika Beer who finds the delivery of two submarines to Israel "irresponsible", wouldn't it?

While spending her well-paid retirement in the European Parliament as a representative of the Greens, Beer, former "chairperson" of the Green Party, muses that Germany thus "jeopardizes her position as a neutral partner in the Middle East".

"With the unanimous decision of the old and the new government of Germany to deliver two more Dolphin-submarines," Beer informs us, "they torpedo in an irresponsible way the negotiations of EU 3 with Iran about their nuclear program."

By the way, my translation improved the original: «Mit der einvernehmlichen Entscheidung der alten und neuen Regierung Deutschlands, Israel zwei weitere Dolphin-U-Boote zu liefern, torpediert sie in unverantwortlicher Art und Weise die Verhandlungen der EU 3 mit Iran über dessen Nuklearprogramm.» WHO do "torpedo"? Can only be the old and the new government of Germany (plural), because they form the sentence article. So that should read then "sie torpedieren", "they torpedo", NOT "sie torpediert", "he/she/it torpedoes". But who cares about grammar as long as the spirit is right. And here, it is SO right, it makes me throwing up yesterday's breakfast!

I am not talking about that hypocritical, perverted "special relationship with Israel" Germans love to claim, which is more a sort of German masturbation icon tackled as, to paraphrase Wolgang Pohrt, with the typical German obsession with responsibility, comparable to a convicted child molester who thinks that his "experience" does qualify him specifically for a job as kindergarden teacher. No, I'm not talking about that.

I am not talking either JUST about the fact, that, in a case where the only democratic country with the rule of law in the Middle East stands with her back to the wall (or rather the sea) against the, to quote John Derbyshire, "howling, jeering forces of barbarism", a case of six million in a sliver of land against 22 million (give or take a few million, I am not petty) ready to kill at the spur of a moment as soon as that tiny slip of land shows a chink in its armour, that in such a case the phrase "neutral partner" rings a tiny wee little bit hollow.

I am not talking either about the fact that this deal was heavily sponsored by the German industry and those guys are not known for giving presents.

What I am talking about is that I'd wish back the times when the representatives of the people had a modicum of formal education and stood for their own, and, albeit egoistic, nevertheless SANE interests and not for some warm-and-fuzzy-feeling-of-one's-own-goodness-in-the-belly at best, a dangerous totalitarian ideology at worst. Beer is qualified to type legal documents or to clean a physician's instruments and should be allowed to make suggestions how to improve the filing system and that is where, in a sane society, her influence would end.

I say the times when political influence was limited to a person's actual importance and children had to present their fingernails for inspection on a regular basis had their decisive advantages!

Mommy, Daddy, the two Franks, Lorna and Sparky go MultiCulti

When I put up my Mommy, Daddy, the two Franks, Lorna and Sparky travesty yesterday, I had not a political implication in mind. Yet!

But I just noticed in the FREE WEST blog the following entry by Leon De Winter:
And this one is too silly to be wrong:
The Times reports an AFP message:

‘Polygamy is to blame’ for riots

Polygamy among immigrants is one cause of the rioting that has plagued France for the past two weeks, according to Gerard Larcher, the Employment Minister.

M Larcher was quoted as saying that large, polygamous families sometimes led to antisocial behaviour by youths who did not have a father figure in the home, making employers more cautious of hiring staff from ethnic minorities.

There are fears that M Larcher’s comments could further fuel the debate about the cause of the unrest and possibly outrage Muslim and anti-racism groups. Polygamy is banned in France, but an estimated 30,000 mainly African families have more than one wife.

The National Assembly yesterday approved a three-month extension to the state of emergency. (AFP)
Well, we must'nt blame them, must we. It's just part of their culture, after all. If we all aspire to be good little polyamourists, maybe one blessed day they won't be so angry with us anymore.

Mommy, Daddy, the two Franks, Lorna and Sparky

Trust my favourite fishwrap "The Al Guardian" to print anything like that uncommented:
Forget monogamy and swinging. We're seriously polyamorous
A new frankness about simultaneous relationships is sweeping the US, reports Paul Harris in New York
Sunday November 13, 2005
The Observer

...Welcome to the world of the polyamorous, where the family is bigger than you might expect. Polyamorists do not limit themselves to one relationship but maintain numerous relationships, straight or gay. A key element is that they are all serious emotional commitments, not just casual sex.
[...]
Many polyamorous people, who call themselves 'polys', liken their emergence to the struggle by gays and lesbians for equal rights, 'coming out' as poly in a society prejudiced against their lifestyle. 'Most people in the poly community are very closeted. The community is where gays and lesbians were in the Sixties,' said Justen Bennett-MacCubbin, the founder of Polyamorous NYC.

Bennett-MacCubbin, who is in two serious gay relationships, says he has had to come out of the closet twice: first as a homosexual at 16 and three years later as polyamorous too. 'I realised I enjoyed being with two people in two relationships. Monogamy has no interest for me at all,' he said.

Polys face deep prejudice, he says. The most common reaction from non-polys is that polys have chosen their lifestyle to have lots of sex with different people.

Nothing could be further from the truth, he says. 'It is extremely important that people realise it is not just about sexual encounters. What distinguishes the poly community from swingers is that we want to make multiple emotional bonds. Most people in the poly community won't have casual sex,' he said.

It does result in complicated sexual and emotional patterns. Some polys are in 'triangles', where each person in a threesome has a relationship with the other. Or they can be in a 'vee', where one is involved with two others who are not involved with each other. Or polys can be in 'primary relationships', such as with a spouse or partner, and have one or more 'secondary' relationships. Through it all the sexes can be mixed, as polys can be straight, gay or bisexual.

But being a poly can be tough. Brigitte Philippides, an artist in Greenwich Village, has a primary relationship with a boyfriend, a serious relationship with a secondary girlfriend and several secondary relationships with other men.

To bored husbands or wives who might think being a poly means uncomplicated, carefree sex with multiple partners, Philippides has a stern warning. 'If you can't manage one relationship healthily, you are not going to be able to manage two. For polys, relationships are like a consuming hobby: they take up a tremendous amount of time,' she said.

Polys say that for many people, monogamy is unnatural. They point to spiralling divorce rates and widespread infidelity among monogamous couples. Polys, they say, are honest about the human condition. It is monogamists, they say, who live in a fantasy land.

'People divorce often not because of the cheating, but because of the issue of trust being broken. For polys, everything is open and it's all about honesty. All my relationships are working,' Philippides said.

Jealousy is the key emotional issue to be overcome. 'We are taught that jealousy is hardwired into us and people can then justify their jealous rages at their partner's need for others. Polys move beyond that,' said Wise.

Philippides was even more frank. 'We talk about jealousy openly. It is not a taboo word for us,' she said. In fact, polys have a term, called 'compersion'. This is the opposite of jealousy and involves taking pleasure from the success of your partner's other relationships. A hefty dose of compersion helps make polyamory work. That and a deft hand at scheduling so that no partner in a poly set-up feels unfairly treated.

'We want a change in perception of what's possible. By and large people are not naturally monogamous, and we should be able to talk about it without prejudice,' said Bennett-MacCubbin.

Certainly some polys have changed the perceptions of those nearest and dearest to them. Wise tells of her in-laws' shocked reaction when she and her husband came out as polys 11 years ago.

There were concerns for their marriage and their children. Now those concerns are gone. 'They see that our kids have grown up great and that our marriage is great, and that's all they really cared about in the end,' she said.

And the secret of success? 'Communicate, communicate, communicate,' Wise enthused. 'It is just honesty and working on being a better person. When we first started we took very slow and deliberate steps towards being poly. And you know what? The world did not implode.'
[...]
Now here are MY news:
Welcome to the world of the omniamorous, where the family is bigger than you might expect. Omniamorists do not limit themselves to one relationship but maintain numerous relationships, straight, gay or four-legged. A key element is that they are all serious emotional commitments, not just casual sex.

Many omniamorous people, who call themselves 'omnis', liken their emergence to the struggle by gays and lesbians for equal rights, 'coming out' as omni in a society prejudiced against their lifestyle. Most people in the omni community are very closeted. The community is where gays and lesbians were in the Sixties.

An expert (name known to The Editrix), who is in two serious gay relationships, one two- and the other four-legged, says he has had to come out of the closet twice: first as a homosexual at 16 and later as omniamorous too. 'I realised I enjoyed being with two people of various leg-counts in two relationships. Two-legged monogamy has no interest for me at all,' he said.

Omnis face deep prejudice, he says. The most common reaction from non-omnis is that omnis have chosen their lifestyle to have lots of sex with different critters.

Nothing could be further from the truth, he says. 'It is extremely important that people realise it is not just about sexual encounters. What distinguishes the omni community from swingers is that we want to make multiple emotional bonds. Most critters in the omni community won't have casual sex,' he said, 'not even my dog.'.

It does result in complicated sexual and emotional patterns. Some omnis are in 'triangles', where each critter in a threesome has a relationship with the other. Or they can be in a 'vee', where one is involved with two others who are not involved with each other, irrespective of the number of legs. Or omnis can be in 'primary relationships', such as with a Great Dane or other partner, and have one or more 'secondary' relationships with, say, lesbian Siamese cats. Through it all the sexes can be mixed, as omnis can be straight, gay, bisexual or into sex with our four-legged friends, who may be, in turn, straight, gay, bisexual, or all of the above.

But being an omni can be tough. XXX (name known to The Editrix), has a primary relationship with a boyfriend, a serious relationship with a secondary girlfriend and several secondary relationships with a kennel of lesbian German Dachshund bitches.

To bored husbands or wives who might think being an omni means uncomplicated, carefree sex with multiple partners, XXX has a stern warning. 'If you can't manage one relationship healthily, you are not going to be able to manage two. For omnis, relationships are like a consuming hobby: they take up a tremendous amount of time,' she said and adds: "actually, walking the dogs can be a bit tedious, but it's really worth it in the end. It's a bit of a bore that they are always hysterically yelping and hiding under cupboards and wardrobes as soon as they see me (I wonder why), but that doesn't really influence the wonderfully open and loving relationship we have. We are really deeply commited to each other, although Daisy tends to growl at Rosebud over a bone, but I am sure they will get over that sort of petty jealousy soon.'

Omnis say that for many people, monogamy and being limited to creatures with two legs is unnatural. They point to spiralling divorce rates and widespread infidelity among monogamous couples limited to sex between critters with two legs. Omnis, they say, are honest about the creature condition. It is monogamists with a fixation on two legs, they say, who live in a fantasy land.

'Critters divorce often not because of the cheating, but because of the issue of trust being broken. For omnis, everything is open and it's all about honesty. All my relationships are working,' XXX said. 'I always take titbits with me when I visit my Dachshunds, because otherwise they won't come near me. I wonder why.'

Jealousy is the key emotional issue to be overcome. 'We are taught that jealousy is hardwired into us and critters can then justify their jealous rages at their partner's need for others. Omnis move beyond that.'

'We talk about jealousy openly. It is not a taboo word for us,' she said. In fact, omnis have a term, called 'compersion'. This is the opposite of jealousy and involves taking pleasure from the success of your partner critter's other relationships. A hefty dose of compersion helps make omniamory work. That and a deft hand at scheduling so that no partner in a poly set-up feels unfairly treated. I and my two-legged gay partner always take the Dachshunds to long walks in the wood. On the lead, of course, because otherwise they will run away. I wonder why.'

'We want a change in perception of what's possible. By and large people are not naturally monogamous or fixated on two-legged persons, and we should be able to talk about it without prejudice,' said XXX.

Certainly some omnis have changed the perceptions of those nearest and dearest to them. XYZ (name known to The Editrix) tells of her in-laws' shocked reaction when she and her husband came out as omnis 11 years ago.

There were concerns for their marriage and their children and whether they might be kicked by the two Scottish Highland heifers who are partners in that loving, caring, responsible relationship. Now those concerns are gone. 'They see that our kids have grown up great and that our marriage is great, and that's all they really cared about in the end,' she said.

And the secret of success? 'Communicate, communicate, communicate,' XYZ enthused. 'It is just honesty and working on being a better critter. When we first started we took very slow and deliberate steps towards being omni. Started with straight field mice and moved on via some bi-sexual chihuahuas and two black labradors of doubtful sexual orientation to those lovely, caring, understanding, compassionate and openminded bi-sexual Scottish Highland heifers. And you know what? The world did not implode.'
Satire and reality are hardly discernable. Frightening, isn't it?

And we can't even blame Islam for that one. Destroying our civilisation -- THAT we are well able to do ourselves.

French riots: Media coverup for antisemitic rants

According to some French, or Francophone, viewers, including my friend Gudrun Eussner who lives in France, French cable channel Canal+ changed the dubbing of "Sarkozy, sale juif" ("Sarkozy, dirty Jew!") to "Sarkozy, fasciste!" ("Sarkozy, Fascist!").

Another source is the blog "Dieu est mon Roi", but what do we expect of a blog with such a scandalously non-PC name anyway! Yet another source is Leon De Winter's FREE WEST blog. There, a reader informs us that it seems as if French conservative sites, which view the pussyfooting around the riots critically, are censored by blocking access to these sites for French internet users.

This is not verified, but does not seem, to put it cautiously, improbable.

Here is some more information from Daniel Pipes' blog regarding Sarkozy's use of the epithet "scum" for that violent... well, scum that is rioting in France, plus, much more important, regarding another media hushup:
In fact he [Sarkozy] used the term "racaille" which would be better translated as rabble or riff-raff, and is probably close to the current American idiom of gangbangers as applied to the Crips, Bloods, Latin KIngs, or Mara Salvatrucha.

Sarkozy used the term in a television interview with a woman from one of the affected "banlieues" who was complaining about the lack of police response. She used the term racaille in her complaint, and Sarkozy repeated it in his answer to her. The television news show that ran the story cut out the film of the woman and showed Sarkozy's words as a sound bite. You can find a detailed summary of this at the No Pasaran blog.

What's more, "racaille" is the term that France's suburban slum hoodlums use for themselves... The American equivalent would be people who refer to themselves as gangstas.
Give me a break! That man is by the standards of the Nürnberg racial law a Vierteljude, quarter Jew and not a Jew by any other standard. You are not telling me that the illiterate rioting scum did find that out by themselves, are you? Or bribed the media into multiple hushups?

Kind of makes my point that Pavlovianesque Old Europe will still be drooling at the sound of the word "Jew" and will gladly commit suicide if it's only detrimental to Jews. "Quarter Jews" included.

A first cautious step in the right direction...

Outrageous news from Denmark:
Dänemark fordert «Treue» von Zuwanderern
04. Nov 17:49

(nz)

Refugees in Denmark will have to sign that they know and comply with the cultural customs of the country. Therefore, some of them feel vilified as "barbarians".

The Danish government asks from refugees and other immigrants before issuing a residence permit to sign a detailed "declaration of loyalty". According to the paper "Declaration regarding Integration and Active Participation as a Fellow Citizen within Danish Society", which was published in Copenhagen on Friday applicants for a residence permit will have to sign, among other things, the statement: "I am aware of the fact that the individual citizens and families bear the responsibility for their livelihood themselves. I will therefore work towards becoming self-supporting as soon as possible."

Limited Protection Rights

The declaration states further: I am aware that it is not allowed in Denmark to beat one's children. I am aware that circumcision of girls and any forced matchmaking is a criminal offence in Denmark. I accept that the Danish society remains in marked distance to terrorist action and that every citizen is obliged to fight terrorism."

The last item states: "I am aware that I, as a refugee, have no rights of protection should the circumstances in my native country change insofar, as it becomes possible for me to go home."

"I Would Never Sign That"

The Ministry for Refufees, Integration and Immigration has got a secure parlamentarian majority for the new regulations, which includes the votes of the Social Democrats in the opposition. The speaker of the Union for Somalian Immigrants, Ahmed F. Dualeh, told the newspaper "Politiken": "I would never sign that. The government thinks they are dealing with a horde of barbarians."

Minister for Integration Rikke Hvilshøj said: "I can't see a problem with that declaration. All it does is stressing some basic values of our society."
Yeah, and exactly THAT'S the problem, isn't it. It's become offensive to stress or -- heaven's forbid -- protect the basic values of OUR society. See Jihad Against Danish Newspaper. Maybe even for the stolid Danes is enough finally enough. Well done, our northern neighbours. Watch this space for more news from Denmark.

Oh NO! Not AGAIN Chuck!

Honestly, I have a soft spot for that chap because that vicious lower middle class varicose-vein-brigade whose vicarious lifes clotheshorse Diana led, including the scum media that cater for this classy audience, gave him such hell, and because he sticks to his family's commendable tradition of murdering wildlife (huntin', shootin', fishin') but his naiveté sucks no end.
Prince Charles to plead Islam's cause to Bush
By Andrew Alderson, Chief Reporter
(Filed: 29/10/2005)

The Prince of Wales will try to persuade George W Bush and Americans of the merits of Islam this week because he thinks the United States has been too intolerant of the religion since September 11.

The Prince, who leaves on Tuesday for an eight-day tour of the US, has voiced private concerns over America's "confrontational" approach to Muslim countries and its failure to appreciate Islam's strengths.

The Prince raised his concerns when he met senior Muslims in London in November 2001. The gathering took place just two months after the attacks on New York and Washington. "I find the language and rhetoric coming from America too confrontational," the Prince said, according to one leader at the meeting.

It is understood that Prince Charles did not - and does not - believe that the actions of 19 hijackers should tarnish the reputation of hundreds of millions of law-abiding Muslims around the world.
[...]
Ouch! I mean that is so dumb it really hurts. Maybe he is in a post-adolescent manner trying to counteract his father who is refreshingly non-politically correct (didn't he call the Chinesse "gooks" or something like that?), but a pretty nasty piece of work otherwise.

One of the few items from my lost previous blog I managed to save was the "Open Letter to Chuck the Lemming", which I wrote (and which I, ever-optimistically, hope he will read one day) when he expressed amazement that the world didn't sing Kumbayah when Islamist terrorists flattened the WTC on 9/11.
“Thank Goodness for Arabic Numerals,” says the Prince of Wales!

HRH the Prince of Wales officially opened the new academic building of the Markfield Institute of Higher Education (MIHE) on 24th January 2003 in the presence of diplomats, key international figures and leading local civic dignitaries. Speaking during his landmark visit to the Islamic Foundation in Markfield, Leicestershire, the Prince acknowledged the historic links between Islam, Muslims and Britain and quipped, “Thank goodness for Arabic numerals!”

His Royal Highness said Leicestershire should be proud to have “in its backyard” such a “pioneering institution is well known for its scholarly work, its publications and its research.” The Islamic Foundation, continued HRH, has, for many years, been at the forefront of dialogue between the Muslims of Britain and their non-Muslim fellow citizens."

Reminding the assembly of Europe’s cultural and academic debt to Islamic civilisation the Prince said, “Thank goodness for Arabic numerals and the concept of the Zero introduced into European thought by Muslim mathematicians!” In addition to talking of Muslims’ contribution to the development of medicine and geometry, and the navigational skills of Muslim seafarers, HRH also remarked upon Islamic contacts closer to home: “My own family benefited from Islamic wisdom…-- Queen Victoria was taught Hindustani using Persian script by Hafez Abdul Karim, one of several Indian staff.”

Yep, Chuck! And we have some pretty china bowls in the family from the time my grandfather-in-law helped to deliver a good ticking off to those gooks during the Boxer Rebellion. Doesn’t mean I like a country and a culture where petty criminals are executed and baby girls left to die -- to mention just two of its shortcomings -- any better.

Chuck! Do you hear me? You can suck up to them until you are blue -- oops, that's the wrong metaphor, of course, until you are BROWN in the face, Chuck, they STILL hate us and despise you for your well-bred naiveté and in case you have overlooked it: they have done nothing during a considerable number of centuries to keep their standard of culture and science up-to-date.

Sure, their ancestors were doctors and sages while your ancestors (and mine) painted their faces blue and hacked each other to death with battleaxes, but nowadays, WE give rocket scientists to the world, while THEY blow themselves and dozens of kids up in discotheques and pizza parlours. But thanks for the numerals!

Another Englishman, the brilliant John Derbyshire (although I think he ought to sue his hairdresser), has put it like that : The 1991 Gulf War showed how little has changed since those first encounters. Here were the armies of the West: swift, deadly, efficient, equipped and organized, under the command of elected civilians at the head of a robust and elaborate constitutional structure. And here were the Arabs: a shambling, ill-nourished, shoeless rabble, led by a mad gangster-despot. (That was their Arabs. There were also, of course, our Arabs -- the Kuwaitis and Saudis, cowering in their plush-lined air-conditioned bunkers being waited on by their Filipino servants while we did their fighting for them.) Final body counts: the West, 134 dead, the Arabs, 20,000 or more. The superiority of one culture over another has not been so starkly demonstrated since a handful of British wooden ships, at the end of ten-thousand-mile lines of communications, brought the Celestial Empire to its knees 150 years earlier. The Chinese are still mad about that: They are still making angry, bitter movies about the Opium Wars. A hundred and 50 years from now, the Arabs will not have forgotten the Gulf War.

And, Chuck, nothing nice you will ever say to or about them will change that.

I have forgotten which Brit it was who said during the Palestine Mandate "The only language an Arab understands is a fixed bayonet", or words to that effect. But whoever said it, it's true. You Brits sadly haven't acted accordingly, the Arabs could take the Mickey out of you then, and they can obviously take the Mickey out of you now. And they despise you for it.

I admired your Scottish grandmother inordinately. When Britain was facing the possibility of a German invasion in WWII and all other of Europe's royal families were either exiled or under German rule, she got a gun, stating: "I won't go down like the others!" Sadly, nothing of that spirit has rubbed off on you.

With me, you always had a sympathy advance because life has dealt you a marked card with that manipulative, psychotic troublemaker of a wife and the dumb international media and even dumber public gave you hell for it instead of commiserating with and comforting you, and because the politically correct do-gooder brigade took that wonderful sport of hunting to hounds from you (and no doubt shooting next), but that advance is used up now.

Oh yes, and Chuck . . . The Arabic numerals were invented by the Indians!
