Re 1.: It i...'gator, interesting observations.

Re 1.: It is exactly that "in our face" quality that makes Islam the success it sadly is.

Re 2.: I wouldn't know, so that is interesting. I looked at beauty queens from way back and they certainly had "class" and were seriously beautiful, which includes an intelligent human expression. Isn't it telling that, now these pageants have degenerated to contests between liefeless bimbos, they are asking such divisive questions? I fail to understand what any questions are good for at such events anyway.

Praragraph 1 of The Editrix' Law: Feminists will NEVER do ANYTHING that might BENEFIT women.The_Editrixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07529769143608862966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18369530.post-85573714993596232102010-05-19T04:28:07.637+02:002010-05-19T04:28:07.637+02:00Nora, I a lot of people are increasingly viewing a...Nora, I a lot of people are increasingly viewing all these pageants with suspicion. I've wondered many times if the outcomes weren't more or less pre-determined before the pageant was held. Now we have a new factor that seems to be introduced, the apparently increasing trend of awarding the titles to Muslim immigrants. I notice a couple of things in conjunction with that:

1. Much ado is being made about the fact that these are Muslim women winning the title. I'm not a pageant fan but I don't recall the contestants religious affiliation (or not) being newsworthy in the past. And Miss Utah is a MORMON, Miss Ohio is ROMAN CATHOLIC, Miss Alabama is SOUTHERN BAPTIST, Miss California is an AGNOSTIC and Miss Washington is an ATHEIST. Nope, but the Muslim affiliation is noted and making headlines.

2. The judges are increasingly asking CERTAIN contestants very loaded, highly volatile questions about the most divisive social, moral and political issues of our day. Any answer is potentiality a land mine, unless it is an overtly PC answer. Again, I don't recall those kinds of questions being asked of contestants in previous decades.

At one time I thought feminism was going to kill the concept of beauty pageants. Instead I see them shifting gears to become something else.Alligatorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03764752508206031685noreply@blogger.com
