"Today ze trash can - tomorrow ze world!"

Raccoons released with the permission of "Reichsjägermeister" Hermann Goering in Germany in 1934 to "enrich the Reich's fauna" are threatening to succeed where their Nazi benefactors failed, namely at conquering Europe. They have become so successful that German authorities had to admit that raccoon numbers are now at record levels, more than a million in Germany alone. Another hundreds of thousands have fanned out to Belgium, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic and France. The news caught the always tasteful attention of the English SUN tabloid, which warned its readers that "Nazi raccoons" were "just across the Channel" and "on the warpath ... in a furry blitzkrieg".

Why do those "enrichment" projects always blow up in our faces?
