I have added a new quotation to the header of my blog: "A country is not only what it does - it is also what it puts up with, what it tolerates."
I got it from a blog named Kurt Tucholsky after the German satirist, publicist, and critic of National Socialism Kurt Tucholsky (1890–1935). The blog contains English translations of Tucholsky's work, "along", as the blog owner says, "with an impression of the originals". They then form the basis for poet David Raphael Israel's formal verse renderings.
Tucholsky is as topical today as he was seventy years ago.

Thank you for the kind mention here, and for the link. I've included your blog in my link collection of blogs about Germany.
That quote headed a recent Harper's Magazine article called "The Case For Impeachment". The original source of the quote is a letter from Tucholsky to Arnold Zweig. My next post will be a translation of that.
Thank YOU and keep up the good work!
