Why I'm Not a Monarchist Anymore

We have a new head of state. Angela Merkel's candidate Christian Wulff won a much watched election in the third round of voting to become Germany's next president. The high office is largely ceremonial, however, Germans like to be able to identify with the office holder and his wife.

Wulff won an absolute majority of 625 of the 1,242 votes cast in a special parliamentary assembly, the Bundesrat, in the third and final ballot in which a simple majority would have sufficed. His main opponent, Joachim Gauck, won 494 votes. He was governor of the state of Lower Saxony since 2003 before his candidacy and will be at 51 the youngest president in Germany's history.

Wulff, who is a lawyer by profession, is one of those typical empty-faced, profile- and characterless career politicians whom we exactly do NOT want in that office. But then, maybe we do.

Because it gets worse. In March 2008, after the divorce from his much-respected first wife of almost 20 years, the lawyer Christa, he married wife #2, with whom he had already fathered a child while still married to his first wife. Wife #2, 14 years his junior, has another child, as it is so preciously put, "from a previous relationship".

The conservative (giggle) FAZ, who informs us that people with tattoos are keen on making new experiences (which fits the second Mrs. Wulff to a "T") and more ready to go off the beaten track than others, qualities, which ought to be seen as a good omen for German politics, asked:

What is that supposed to be? A keyhole with licking tongues of flame surrounding it ...?

Well, to play Old Dr. Freud: Not really a KEYhole.
However, bad as all this may be, the good thing is that we will be rid of Wulff and the Missus (whoever she may be then) in 5 or 10 years, the latter if the worst-case scenario happens. This comes, mind you, from a supporter of the monarchist thought who was badly burnt by the recent -- sortof -- royal wedding where the future Queen of Sweden married a gigolo form the fish'n chips shop her "fitnesstrainer".

An Eerie Premonition of Mandate Palestine

In an entry from January I quoted Gustave Flaubert:

"Without doubt because of my old Norman blood, since the war in the Orient, I am mad at England, and getting mad at Prussia! After all, what do they want? Whom are they attacking? That presumption to defend Islamism (which is in itself a monstrosity) makes me angry. I demand, in the name of humanity, that they crush down the Black Stone, blow its ashes in the wind, that they destroy Mecca, and that they defile the tomb of Mohammed. This is the least that can be done to demoralize the fanaticism."

Commenter FPB sheds some more light on the background of Flauberts anger, which I saw as the Crimean war. France and Britain declared war on Russia in March 1854, following the events around the coup d'état of 1851 in France, when Napoleon III sent his ambassador to the Ottoman Empire in an attempt to force the Ottomans to recognize France as the "sovereign authority" in the Holy Land.

FBP, whose thoughts on this deserve not to disappear in the blog bilges, says:

Actually, Flaubert must have been speaking of something much more recent. In 1877, the Russian armies swept through Romania and Bulgaria and forced Turkey to accept a peace treaty that created a comparatively enormous free Bulgaria including the whole of modern Macedonia, most of Thrace and access to the Aegean. This was clearly a provisional settlement at best, because the boundaries forced on Turkey by the new Bulgarian state made the rest of European Turkey untenable and clearly ready to be invaded and freed in its turn as soon as Greece, Montenegro and Serbia felt strong enough. This had followed a horrendous series of massacres in Bulgaria that had revolted the whole of Europe. Britain, however, had a tradition of supporting "legitimate" Turkish power that went back at least as far as the Congress of Vienna, and refused to accept this settlement, effectively rescuing Turkey from annihilation. What followed was the Congress of Berlin (1878), which redrew the borders to make the Turkish European remnant manageable, and in which the two biggest cynics in Europe, Disraeli and Bismarck, formed a bloodstained, Islam-backing mutual admiration society that, looking back, leaves me a bit queasy. This is clearly what Flaubert is speaking of.

There is a post-script. Bismarck showed his chronic incapacity to understand free people. He and Disraeli may have thought they had achieved a diplomatic masterpiece, but the British public were not impressed. And neither was old Gladstone, who had retired to private life. He came back to politics like a whirlwind, roused the country with a series of brilliant anti-Turkish speeches, and swept Disraeli from office.

Very convincing, and I think we have an eerie premonition of the British policy in Mandate Palestine here as well.

My German Blog

I have decided to staple my German blog together with my English language ones. In can be found here now.

It has no comment functionality because it has by far the biggest readership of all my blogs (several hundred single visits per day, about twice what this blog clocks up whose biggest visitor count has been 400 so far and that was only because I got a link from a major German blog), and I don't intend and can't afford to make blogging a full time endeavour.

"Die Editrix auf Deutsch -- Unerwünschte Nachrichten aus der Provinz", means "The Editrix in German" and the rest is stolen from the header of this blog.

Technological Progress from South Africa

One just needs the proper incentive for innovation.

A brief Internet search revealed that this is not new. I was probably the recent interest in everything South African inspired by the Football World Cup which is responsible for a renewed interest in this:

(CNN) -- South African Dr. Sonnet Ehlers was on call one night four decades ago when a devastated rape victim walked in. Her eyes were lifeless; she was like a breathing corpse.

"She looked at me and said, 'If only had teeth down there,'" recalled Ehlers, who was a 20-year-old medical researcher at the time. "I promised her I'd do something to help people like her one day."

Forty years later, Rape-aXe was born.

Ehlers is distributing the female condoms in the various South African cities where the World Cup soccer games are taking place.

The woman inserts the latex condom like a tampon. Jagged rows of teeth-like hooks line its inside and attach on a man's penis during penetration, Ehlers said.

Once it lodges, only a doctor can remove it -- a procedure Ehlers hopes will be done with authorities on standby to make an arrest.

"It hurts, he cannot pee and walk when it's on," she said. "If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter... however, it doesn't break the skin, and there's no danger of fluid exposure."

Ehlers said she sold her house and car to launch the project, and she planned to distribute 30,000 free devices under supervision during the World Cup period.

"I consulted engineers, gynecologists and psychologists to help in the design and make sure it was safe," she said.

After the trial period, they'll be available for about $2 a piece. She hopes the women will report back to her.

If I've seen anything that can't be topped in its shameless "cure the symptom, not the disease" approach, this is it. Dear South Africans, why don't give one free to any female visitor to your country at immigration. A stamp in the passport plus a Rape-aXe and any woman is free to go anywhere and with anybody in your country and not to worry!

This is from German television. While commenting on the World Cup going-ons (goings-on?) with sports anchor Gerhard Delling, ex-international Günter Netzer, one of the best passers in football history and a German icon second only to Franz Beckenbauer, is overcome by a giggling fit. This is specifically funny, because Netzer, different from Beckenbauer who comes across as dour, vague and arrogant, is known to be extremely serious, down to earth, straight to the point and sober - in brief: as dry as dust.

Delling: The Spaniard Alonzo said, totally seriously, that he was "not amused", that it interferes with concentration, which makes proper football playing impossible.

Netzer: I can't understand it ... the players ... one isn't used to this and it is distracting as well. I don't find it particularly good because there are no highs and lows ... the enthusiasm we know, the spectators who are LIVING football, SUFFER football, tragedies, drama, joy, everything cramped into so small a space, different from second to second. Here, NOTHING is different ... starts laughing ... simply EVERYTHING is the same, that hooting, this abhorrent stuff ... laughs ... well...this is not for me ... can't stop laughing ... inaudible, something like this abo(minable)...

Delling: Intoxication through and through... one can say that...

Netzer: (Back to his normal sober self) Yes.

Delling: Let's see whether the Mexicans will become intoxicated as well (guffaws briefly) they have an interesting trainer history...

What Men Perceive as "Romantic Evil"

I am retrieving this one-year-old entry from the blog bilges because of the re-started discussion in the comment section. In the context of this blog entry, I strongly recommend FPB's article on military style.

I happened to find the following by mere chance, while searching for some information on Piper Bill Millin and Lord Lovat at Flickr and it had me floored. I think it fits brilliantly the ongoing discussion about what makes men and women tick so differently.

La Style Anglais

Bad behaviour is more interesting, more downright entertaining, than goodness and rectitude. This is a great gift to the Devil of course, but there's no getting away from it. Who ever heard of a soap opera about sober, sexually continent people who go to bed early and take their holidays in Redcar?

I think this explains why the generals of the Wehrmacht High Command, with their whiff of arrogance, cruelty and romantic evil, have always received more attention than their equivalents on the "good" Allied side. For every biography or television documentary about Viscount Slim, or Alexander of Tunis, there must be a dozen about Guderian or Von Rundstedt and a hundred about Rommel. Yet there were some eccentric and flamboyant characters among the commanders of the wartime British Army...

Guderian? Rundstedt? And -- of all unlikely people -- ROMMEL as examples for "romantic evil"? For heaven's sake, Rommel looked exactly like what he was, the son of a small-town schoolteacher, Rundstedt looked exactly like what he was as well, namely the scion of a family of generations of dour Prussian career officers and Guderian, the only one of the three who shows a smidgeon of dash, looks basically too like what he was, namely the son of another Prussian officer, albeit from a lesser family. All three of them, whatever they may have in fact been, look like the archetype of sober, sexually continent men who go to bed early and take their holidays maybe not in Redcar, but in Warnemünde.

The discussion following the "La Style Anglais" picture at Flickr may serve as a key to such an (I think) obvious misconception:

Well, thats a DSO and bar, OBE, MC, 4 ww2 stars (one with a bar, maybe 8th army?), ww1 pair with an MiD, and probably the silver jubilee medal. Don't think there are too many out there with that combination. He looks like a poof but the medal bar proves he's solid English oak.

Alas, with the red hackle on his bonnet and the sword guard of his claymore poking out of the bottom right this 'solid english oak' is most likely a scotsman :) the red hackle is the regimental distinction of the Blackwatch regiment.

The soldier in question is a Commanding Officer from the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment). I believe he is Lt Col Critchley a very distinguished soldier and a gentleman. his son carried on the tradition of serving in the Regiment. Neither of which were in the least bit a poof nor English.

Why couldn't he have been a hero AND a poof?

Indeed, and that's what men find so hard to understand. I see neither arrogance, nor cruelty, let alone romantic evil, in the German archetypes, just austereness, sobriety and professionalism, and I'd like to know how other women react to the different archetypes. My money is on the Brits, and not on the Germans in their demonstratively sober uniforms, who shout "straight" in marked difference to the elegant, flamboyant, dashing, bordering on the sexually ambiguous, Brits, who show more than just a whiff of arrogance, as I understand it.

Interestingly, the author of the "La Style Anglais" entry contradicts himself by quoting from Evelyn Waugh's "Men At Arms":

He was the great Halberdier enfant terrible of the First World War; the youngest company commander in the history of the Corps; the slowest to be promoted; often wounded, often decorated, recommended for the Victoria Cross, twice court martialled for disobedience to orders in the field, twice acquitted in recognition of the brilliant success of his independent actions; a legendary wielder of the entrenching tool; where lesser men collected helmets Ritchie-Hook once came back from a raid across no-man's-land with the dripping head of a German sentry in either hand.

Frankly, that is not exactly a prime example of goodness and rectitude and a scenario in which the boringly sedate mugs of neither, Guderian, nor Rommel, nor Rundstedt seem quite to fit.

At my other blog there is an entry about Rex Whistler, another one of the Brit archetype, again one who carries that sexual ambiguity, and again one who was found irresistible by many women (and men), a feeling to which I can relate.


And of course, Lord Lovat, the man who triggered off this entry, makes an excellent romantic hero as well:


There is hardly anything more endearing about the male sex, and I am not cynical or jaundiced here, than the trait, which sees something romantic, even if it is romantic evil, in Guderian, or Rommel, or Rundstedt. The great tragedy is that their women are meanwhile eloping with Evelyn Waugh's Ritchie-Hook.

Anger over Gaza is a distraction. We cannot forget that Israel is the West´s best ally in a turbulent region.

For far too long now it has been unfashionable in Europe to speak up for Israel. In the wake of the recent incident on board a ship full of anti-Israeli activists in the Mediterranean, it is hard to think of a more unpopular cause to champion.

In an ideal world, the assault by Israeli commandos on the Mavi Marmara would not have ended up with nine dead and a score wounded. In an ideal world, the soldiers would have been peacefully welcomed on to the ship. In an ideal world, no state, let alone a recent ally of Israel such as Turkey, would have sponsored and organised a flotilla whose sole purpose was to create an impossible situation for Israel: making it choose between giving up its security policy and the naval blockade, or risking the wrath of the world.

Israel is a fundamental part of the West. The West is what it is thanks to its Judeo-Christian roots. If the Jewish element of those roots is upturned and Israel is lost, then we are lost too. Whether we like it or not, our fate is inextricably intertwined.

Israël : s´il tombe, nous tous tomberons

La colère à propos de Gaza est une diversion. Nous ne pouvons pas oublier qu´Israël est le meilleur allié de l´Occident dans une région turbulente.

Cela fait trop longtemps maintenant qu´il n´est plus "à la mode" de défendre Israël. A la suite du récent incident de la flottille remplie d´activistes anti-israéliens en Méditerranée, il est difficile de trouver une cause aussi impopulaire à défendre.

Dans un monde idéal, l´assaut des commandos israéliens sur le Mavi Marmara ne se serait pas terminé par 9 morts et des douzaines de blessés. Dans un monde idéal, les soldats auraient été accueillis paisiblement à bord. Dans un monde idéal, aucun état, notamment un allié récent d´Israël comme la Turquie, n´aurait promu et organisé une flottille dont le seul but était de créer une situation impossible pour Israël, c´est-à-dire choisir entre l´abandon de sa politique de sécurité et le blocus naval, ou risquer la colère du monde.

Dans nos relations avec Israël, il faut dissiper les brumes rousses de la colère qui trop souvent brouillent notre jugement. Une approche équilibrée et raisonnable devrait inclure les réalités suivantes.

Al weer veel te lang nu is het in Europa niet "populair" geweest om voor Israël op te komen. In de nasleep van het recente incident in de Middellandse Zee aan boord van een schip vol anti-Israëlische activisten, is het lastig een nog impopulairdere kwestie voor de geest te halen om de schouders onder te zetten.

Israël is een fundamenteel onderdeel van het Westen. Het Westen is wat het is dankzij haar joods-christelijke wortels. Als het joodse element van die wortels wordt omgespit en Israël verloren is, dan zijn wij ook verloren. Of we het nu leuk vinden of niet: ons lot is onlosmakelijk met elkaar verbonden.

Islam Is Peace and Tolerance

The English IT-related news site The Register reports:

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is being investigated by Pakistani police under a section of the penal code that makes blasphemy against Muhammad punishable by death.

BBC Urdu reports — according to a Google Translation — that Pakistan's Deputy Attorney General has launched a criminal investigation against Zuckerberg and others in response to Facebook hosting a "Draw Muhammad" contest on its site late last month. On May 19, Pakistani authorities blocked access to Facebook over the contest, and this ban was lifted on May 31 after Facebook removed the page in Pakistan and other countries.

Asked to comment, a Facebook spokeswoman told us the company does not comment on legal matters.

Last month, according to English-language Pakistani newspaper The News International, a Pakistani High Court judge summoned the police after lawyer Muhammad Azhar Siddique filed an application for a First Information Report (FIR), claiming that the owners of Facebook had committed a heinous and serious crime under Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code. In essence, an FIR launches a criminal investigation. But no charges have been filed.

According to the paper, Section 295-C of the penal code reads: "Use of derogatory remark etc, in respect of the Holy Prophet, whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation, or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) shall be punished with death, or imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable for fine."

So, peace be unto Muhammad. But not unto Mark Zuckerberg.

According to two reports — one at Boxcrack.net, a kind of citizen journalism site run by Privacy International, and another at Pro Pakistani, a Pakistani Telecom and IT news site that lifted the news from BBC Urdu — the Deputy Attorney General has indeed lodged an FIR against Zuckerberg, fellow co-founders Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes, and "Andy", the German woman who initiated the Draw Muhammad contest under a pseudonym.

According to Pro Paskistani, petitioner Muhammad Azhar Sidiqque said he's waiting for the police to contact Interpol about making arrangements for the arrest of Facebook's owners and "Andy".

So the Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan, no less, launches a criminal investigation because "the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)" was "defiled" and expects Interpol to comply to have people in Western countries where the rule of law applies -- even if only yet and just -- arrested for crimes punishable by the sharia. And Ms. Facebook spokeswoman doesn't laugh her ass off but informs us that she won't comment on "legal matters".

Meanwhile, nobody but a couple of fairminded bloggers cares for the appalling cesspool of genocidal Jew hatred at Facebook.

How Times Have Changed

On Thursday, June 3, two days after the Swedish writer Henning Mankell, who is not JUST hugely popular for his antisemitic anti-Zionist commitment in Germany, was released from his ordeal to which the Israelis had submitted him, SPIEGEL ONLINE International performed an interview with him that was full of as-hard-as-nails-investigative questions and gems of replies from the interviewee, such as whether he had ever been to Gaza ("no"), whether he knows the IHH and the Free Gaza movement ("not well enough to be able to form an opinion"), whether Hamas was a source of hope for him ("I don’t know enough about the issue"), or why he ignored repeated Israeli warnings that they would not allow the convoy to reach Gaza ("At least they should have let us continue for another two hours, until we were just off the coast") and nobody laughed and the world listened in awe.

I quite liked that one as well:

You know, I was born in 1948, the same year as the establishment of the State of Israel, so this conflict has accompanied me my entire life. For me, the thought that this conflict will still exist when I die is unbearable.

Whether the fact of having been born in the same year as the old fart who has hair growing out of his nose and ears makes the Middle East conflict so precious, the as-tough-as-nails-investigative journalists from SPON forgot to ask -- or why he doesn't give an aviating fornication for all the many other still unresolved ethnic or political conflicts worldwide, for that.

But this is priceless:

Codified Mass Sociopathy Posing as Religion

I did a search for the term "sociopath" and just intended a brief lookup but got sidetracked because the frightening accord of the diagnosis of this specific mental condition with what the non-Muslim world suffers on a daily basis from Muslims worldwide.

* Glibness and Superficial Charm

* Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.

* Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as "their right."

* Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.

* Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

* Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

* Incapacity for Love

* Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.

* Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.

* Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.

* Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet "gets by" by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.

* Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerned about wrecking others' lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.

* Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.

* Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.

* Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility
Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.

Other Related Qualities:

NOTE: In the 1830's this disorder was called "moral insanity." By 1900 it was changed to "psychopathic personality." More recently it has been termed "antisocial personality disorder" in the DSM-III and DSM-IV. Some critics have complained that, in the attempt to rely only on 'objective' criteria, the DSM has broadened the concept to include too many individuals. The APD category includes people who commit illegal, immoral or self-serving acts for a variety of reasons and are not necessarily psychopaths.

Antisocial personality disorder is characterized by a lack of regard for the moral or legal standards in the local culture. There is a marked inability to get along with others or abide by societal rules. Individuals with this disorder are sometimes called psychopaths or sociopaths.

According to Lutz, the German chapter of the group European Jews for a Just Peace (EJJP) stated “there must be talks with Hamas, the elected government.” Members of the anti-Zionist group (EJJP) have frequently compared Israel with Nazi Germany and the former Apartheid government in South Africa.

Critics in Germany note that the EJJP are obsessed with Israel and show no interest for the genocide in Dafur or the Iranian government's brutal crackdown of its civilian population.

According to media observers, the EJJP attracts vast media attention in Germany because of widespread anti-Israeli sentiments among the population.

Yes Edith, and it won't even buy you the window seat on the next train to Auschwitz you are so longing for.

Garbage for Gaza

From the website of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dated June 7th:

The Logistics Section of SIBAT (Foreign Defense Assistance and Defense Export Department of the Israel Ministry of Defense), together with COGAT (Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories), are responsible for transferring humanitarian aid to Gaza. They handled the transfer of the equipment that arrived on the flotilla ships from Ashdod Port to the Defense Ministry's humanitarian aid base in Zrifin, which now await Hamas permission for transfer into the Gaza Strip.

The equipment includes:

1. 300 wheelchairs
2. 300 new mobility scooters
3. 100 special mobility scooters for the disabled
4. Hundreds of crutches
5. 250 hospital beds
6. 50 sofas
7. Four tons of medicine
8. 20 tons of clothing, carpets, school bags, cloth and shoes
9. Various hospital equipment - closets and cabinets, operating theater equipment, etc.
10. Playground equipment
11. Mattresses

The equipment remaining at Ashdod Port on the three ships which have not been offloaded include some 2000 tons of construction equipment - building materials and tools, and construction waste (rubble, toilets, sinks and cement) for re-use.

During the week of 30 May - 5 June 2010, 484 truckloads (12,413 tons) of aid were transferred from Israel to the Gaza Strip via the land crossings.

It should be noted that:

1. The equipment does not constitute humanitarian aid in the accepted sense (basic foodstuffs, new and functional equipment, fresh medicines).

2. The equipment awaiting entry into the Gaza Strip, both at the Kerem Shalom crossing and the Defense Ministry base, has been approved by COGAT.

3. The humanitarian aid on all the ships was scattered in the ships' holds and thrown onto piles and not packed properly for transport. The equipment was not packaged and not properly placed on wooden bases.

4. Because of the improper packing, some of the equipment was crushed by the weight in transit.

5. The medicines and sensitive equipment (operating theater equipment, new clothing, etc.) are being kept in cool storage at the Defense Ministry base. Some of the medicines have already expired, and some will expire soon. The operating theater equipment, which should be kept sterile, was carelessly wrapped.

6. A large part of the equipment, particularly shoes and clothing, was used and worn.

7. The construction material must be approved by COGAT and the political echelons before it can be transferred to the Gaza Strip.

The Creeping De-Legitimisation of a Nation

In the federal state of Northrhine-Westphalia, policemen are not allowed to sport German flags at their cars during the Football World Cup because it might be provocative to supporters of other teams. The same applies to the city state of Berlin, where the ban was already applied four years ago. In the federal state of Sachsen-Anhalt, for example, there is no such ban. Is it possible that we have a demographic problem here?

Facebook's Double Standard

Under the header Clear Hate of Jews on Facebook the English language version of Politically Incorrect, the most read of all political blogs in Germany, not just the Islam-critical ones, leads us down to the bilges of -- how shall I put it? -- a German subculture. By the way "potatoes" (="Kartoffeln" in the original) is a slur for ethnic Germans:

On Facebook an apparently deeply piled up hate of Jews is now being unloaded. Muslims living in Germany are freely exercising their genocidal fantasies. They don’t conceal their sympathies for the Holocaust and its author Adolf Hitler. The fact is openly bemoaned that he was unable to complete his gruesome work.

In light of the multitude of shocking texts, the usual diversions of a few simple rare occurrences can no longer be spoken of. Also, the study of the Amadeu Antonio Foundation of the previous year came to the conclusion that there is definitely a strong anti-Semitism among young Muslims. Something appears to be developing here that not only should cause the greatest concern, but must give occasion for even greater alarm, if it would be the right target group with Jew-hating Bio-German right-wing radicals, but there is the possibility that the well-wishing immigrant bonus is being employed here. It may be 2 years old but I think it’s emblematic of the situation. Watch the video again and let it sink in how chilling this is. A crazed anti-semite comes out saying that Muslim men should sexually harass and even rape Israeli women and what does this arab tv network do? They invite her on and interview her as though she were just another political commentator with a provocative position.

And the sad thing is that in a society where the call for mass genocide against the Israelis is a common event this woman’s disgusting insanity really is just provocative. In a region of the world where denials of the holocaust and calls for its renewal are common place perhaps the treatment of the call for the mass rape of Israelis as legitimate by a tv network isn’t surprising.

But, clearly, it is disgustingly reprehensible and yet another reminder of exactly what the Israelis are up against.

Notabene that this woman wears no headscarf, that she has had obviously a Western education and that the anchor wears a Western suit and tie. These are the textbook moderate Muslims the West yearns so much to embrace.

If this is two years old, where have the feminists been in the meantime? Where is the outrage?

The Nonexistent Correlation between Violence and Faith

A German study which suggests that there is a correlation between violence and religiosity among young Muslim males is -- will wonders ever cease -- not well received among Muslims.

Berlin - A German Muslim leader demanded Monday a re-analysis of data which suggests that young Muslim males develop violent attitudes when they become more devout attenders at mosque.

The data, to be presented at a government conference in Berlin, was leaked in advance and was front-page news in the German media.

"It lacks an expert interpretation on the cause of the phenomenon," responded Aiman Mazyek, general secretary of the Central Council of Muslims in remarks reported in the newspaper Frankfurter Rundschau. He called for another analysis of the data.

The study, based on interviews with 45,000 boys and girls aged 14 to 16, also concluded that male supremacist views and a preference for violent videos and computer games link closely with mosque attendance among the young.

The as-yet unpublished research was jointly conducted by the Federal Interior Ministry and the KFN criminology research institute in Hanover headed by Christian Pfeiffer.

The authors' interpretation was that youth developed aggressive attitudes because a majority of mosque clergy in Germany did not speak German and encouraged their congregations to practice a conservative form of Islam and to preserve their ethnic roots.

In fact, the man who performed the study, the criminologist Christian Pfeiffer, did everything not to disamuse Muslims to an extent that made him ring hollow:

Pfeiffer wrote: 'This is not a problem with Islam, but a problem with their education in Islam.'

Well, yeah, whatever.

Still, the German Muslim community doesn't see this as a reason for soul-searching or self-criticism, if it is true at all, it must be because of the alienation Muslim youths are experiencing in Germany on a daily basis, and nobody laughed or asked why that doesn't apply to youths "with a migration background" of other religious denominations as well.

As it is, we can trust that somebody somewhere will "re-interpret" the data until it meets Muslim approval soon.

It's the A-Word, Stupid!

Below the header Actually, Israel wasn’t tough enough Peter Hitchens writes in his Mail on Sunday blog:

I view Israel’s assault on the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara as a textbook example of incompetence. These people are not as brilliant as they like to claim.

The ship, despite its supercargo of PC, anti-Israel, Left-wing suckers, dupes and sandal-wearers, was also seething with militant and far-from-pacifist full-time Israel-haters.

If the Mossad secret service types had lived up to their legend, they would have known this.

So why lower troops, one by one, into the midst of a mob of foes? Why equip them with feeble paintball guns, shroud their hands in gloves so they can’t reach their sidearms, and order them not to open fire until things get out of hand?

They did this because the Israeli military let their civilised, law-governed instincts get the better of sensible cynicism.

The gullibility of the reporting on this issue defies belief. This wasn’t a humanitarian convoy. The Israelis were quite willing to send on the supplies, after searching them for contraband.

It's not as if I wouldn't have any issues with the rest of the entry as well, but the quoted bit is so awash with expressions of a commom misconception, that I'll concentrate on that. Hitchens says that, had "...the Mossad secret service types had lived up to their legend, they would have known this." I am not implying antisemitism on Hitchen's side, but oughtn't he to know that this legend is largely an antisemic wet dream? A up-to-date-version of the old omniscient, ubiquitous and omnipotent Jew?

He then raises an extremely interesting point, getting close to the core of antisemitism, apparently without noticing it, when he says that they were so ill-prepared for the terrorist attack "...because the Israeli military let their civilised, law-governed instincts get the better of sensible cynicism." Quite right, Mr. Hitchens. And that is because the Jews think they can win hearts by "good" behaviour when the opposite is the case. Jews (as a group) are not hated because of the evil they do, but because of the good they do. This is called -- dare I say it? -- antisemitism.

Lastly, he states that "(t)he gullibility of the reporting on this issue defies belief." Wrong, Mr. Hitchens. That is not gullibility. Far from it. And it does not a bit defy belief. For somebody who is at home in and part of the media this is a pretty obtuse statement. Anybody who WANTS to know the truth, specifically in the time of the Internet, can learn the truth -- if the truth were what he's after. But only very few are. And we're back to square one and the a-word again.

A Hoax from the Start

This is Gaza harbour. BEFORE it was demolished during Operation Cast Lead, mind you. (Click on the picture for a better view.) And now tell me that this fishing dump would have been able to harbour the "aid" flotilla including a vessel like the Mavi Marmara.

The "peace activists" knew that full well. The entire thing was a hoax intended to run rings around Israel from the very start.

Muslim Pride

The Israeli German-language blog ARO1, maintained by the German convert to Judaism Ulrich J. Becker, shows parts of a slide show from the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet about the three Israeli commando soldiers, who had been captured and detained during the raid on the Mavi Marmara. They were taken below, stripped of their uniforms and equipment and humiliated. Ulrich thinks that the szenario was supposed to remind the Israelis of the Ramallah lynching.

The camera points incessantly at the 'humiliated Jews'! – In terrorcamps in Gaza, Afghanistan or in Lebanon that would be fodder for thigh-slapping, bawling mirth. To present this to a worldwide public is a non-plus-ultra proof for the total absence of any morality and the general sadistic mental disorder of those 'peace activists'...

Well, Islamists think differently. What evokes compassion for the brutally molested in the West, is in Islam symbol and proof of their strength, because degradation, humiliation etc. are the pride of the Islamic fighter, which means they don't even twig that they are damaging their entire PR for Europe all by themselves.

And while I think Ulrich is on to something here, I wouldn't count all THAT much on Western compassion when it's about Jews.

In response to a radio transmission by the Israeli Navy warning the Gaza flotilla that they are approaching a naval blockade, passengers of the Mavi Marmara respond, "Shut up, go back to Auschwitz" and "We're helping Arabs go against the US, don't forget 9/11".

Germans Love Jews ...

... dead, that is!

Almost seven years ago, a so far unremarkable Bundestag backbencher of the Christian Democratic Union named Martin Hohmann caused a tsunami of angry, dismayed, shocked and generally hypocritical protests because he had, sort of, relativised the Holocaust. His babblings about the Jewish perpetrators of Stalinism who had been no real Jews because they didn't believe in God, and the Nazis who didn't believe in God, so the Germans were no "people of perpetrators" either, revealed more about the state of the nation than about him or the Holocaust. Nobody laughed, instead, he was expelled from his parlamentiary group and later stripped of his party membership as well. All of Germany was split in two factions. One thought that he was quite right and that the Jews get away with everything, the rest felt noble.

Things were a bit different, when Annette Groth and Inge Höger, two German Bundestag backbenchers from the post-Stalinist Left party joined the recent terrorist-aid convoi to Gaza. It was, after all, about Jews who are still alive.

Being safely home and dutifully fussed over, they were eager to convey their message. "We have a moral and Christian commitment to speak out aloud against any sort of human rights violations," said Groth, who used to work for ecumenical institutions and an organisation linked to the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), Germany's main Protestant umbrella, before becoming a member of the Bundestag.

Groth said she had been on the women's deck (sic!) of the Mavi Marmara, having joined the Muslim women for their morning prayers (sic!) as every good Protestant Christian ought to, when Israeli special forces attacked. "There were soldiers everywhere, heavily armed and pointing their guns at us," she said. "There was an attitude of terror and humiliation. They did not allow old men to go to the toilet ... It was mere terror, creating a situation full of anxiety."

Her colleague Höger said the women on the ship were quickly (sic!) shut in at a lower level of the ship, the so-called "women's deck" (sic!) during the night and that they "... couldn't get out, we didn't know what was going on above because we were locked in," she said. "We put on our life vests and eventually we figured out that the ship was occupied, that the Israelis had taken it over", which doesn't quite go together with Groth's vivid description of heavily armed soldiers everywhere who pointed their guns at them and didn't allow old men to go to the toilet, but whatever.

Different from Hohmann, who had been torn to shreds seven years ago, there was a fussing and clucking and general "there there I can relate yo you" over the two "visibly shaken" victims of Israeli savagery all through the media, because -- did I say this already? -- this was about Jews who are not yet dead.

There is a petition online to have the Stalin-sisters expelled from the Bundestag with, while I am writing this, 1820 signatures. Will it bring about anything? No, but I signed nevertheless because I thought everybody who got his knickers in a knot over Martin Hohmann seven years ago is somewhat morally obliged to do so.

In the meantime, the German mainstream is eagerly awaiting that the poor, beleaguered Pals and their assorted cronies in the Middle East will finish what had to be cut short 65 years ago in Europe, so that they can go on standing in firm solidarity side by side, upright, solemn and serious, with dead Jews again.

Who needs Nazis for antisemitism?

Predictably, the callous treatment of the humanitarian relief flotilla to Gaza by the Jews Israelis evoked the reaction of eternal antisemites critics of the Zionist entity in the Middle East. As reported by a German blog, entirely peaceful, non-threatening ralliers organised by the Left Party (Die Linke), unidentified "anti-war activists" and the Palestinian community of Bonn, all of them honestly concerned about the fate of the poor people in Gaza, aggresively molested the guests of a Starbucks café in Bonn (the former West German capital) because they had "an announcement to make". When one of the guests at Starbucks, recognisable by his American accented English as an American, asked them to leave the people in the café alone, he was attacked and beaten unconscious. The personnel refused to intervene, to help the man, to restrain the attacker (because it was partially the victim's "own fault") or to call the police. The victim was taken to a hospital where the doctor on call thought that he had been "very lucky". Interviewed later by the blog who had reported all this, the victim commented that "No American or Israeli should feel safe at any Starbucks."

While I am writing this, the MSM are totally ignoring the incident at Starbucks, and largely the rally, but I found a report in English (without the Starbucks incident) at the Demotix "citizen journalism" website. It pays, too, to go to the report from the "sister" rally at Cologne and have a close look at the photos -- and the Hamas flags.

Have a look, too, at the mixture of headscarf-clad women, men with, as it is called euphemistically here in police reports, "Mediterranean" features and ethnically German faces and be reminded of the excellent historical German and Palestinian Arab cooperation. We reported here and here and here, although not JUST there, about it.

Notice, too, that there are no "Nazis" anywhere. This blog has tirelessly droned on for years now about the hypocrisy of German "Never Again" rhetoric, about the hypocritical smokescreen of "right wing extremism" when left wing antisemitism has filtered down to the mainstream long ago.

Where Other Commandos Fear to Tread

IF the MSM make an effort at honest reporting about the "humanitarian" Gaza relief flotilla, the outcome is both, thrilling and telling.

The UK's Channel 4 News asked Peter Cook, a retired Royal Marine [one of those as-tough-as-shit commandos, like, say, the Navy SEALS] Officer, naval analyst and counter-terror expert, to analyse IDF footage. Peter Cook had indentified the weapons used by the IDF as paint guns when he was asked:

Question: "... as a Royal Marine, is this the sort of equipment you'd go onto a ship like this with?"

His answer: (With a wry "yes but..." smile) "I wouldn't want to."
