12 Years Ago Today

On July 18, 1994, Eighty-five people were murdered in the bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, more than three hundred others were wounded. Evidence points to Iran and Hizbollah (spawned by Iran) as the perpetrators of this massacre, as well as the bombing of Israel's embassy in Argentina in March 1992 that murdered 29.

That day, a powerful bomb made of ammonium nitrate was driven in a van through the front gates of the AMIA building in the Once district near downtown Buenos Aires. The building was a seven-story structure, which was the headquarters of Argentina's Jewish community, the largest in South America. The bomber detonated the bomb, reducing the building to rubble together with nearby houses.
It is important to remember what happened in Buenos Aires as Israel fights Hizballah (and Iran and Syria by proxy). It clarifies the vital objective of smashing this menace.
