Hello, Kaasköppe! Do you hear me, Froggoes?

The blogger at the great Spanish blog Inside Europe: Iberian Notes offers an interesting bit of insight:
Note: Jews were not persecuted under Franco, nor were Jews who escaped to Spain during WWII sent back to the Nazis. One of the few semi-decent things that hard, cold old man did.
I think that was not a semi-decent, but a damn decent thing to do, by the way. It was more, too, than most of the oh-so-proud Western European democracies occupied by Hitler-Germany did, who delivered their Jews happily and FOC railway loading bay to the eastbound trains.

Note, too, that another Fascist dictatorship, Mussolini's Italy, did more to protect their Jews as well than same democracies.
